Better together

Forced labour. Child labour. Human Trafficking.

In this innovative concept, two individuals assist each other in the tasks they both encounter during a working day at the office. By helping each other, they demonstrate that working together is more effective than working alone.

Researchers and policy makers often work at cross-purposes to solve the problems of forced labour and child labour. By working together and entwining their labours, both stand a much better chance at making progress towards SDG 8.7.

The latest ILO global child labor estimates indicate that, despite important progress, there were still 160 million children in labor worldwide in 2020. The ILO global estimates of forced labor show a total of 25 million persons in situations of forced labor in 2016. With the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals, the international community committed to ending child labour in all its forms by 2025 and to eradicating forced labour by 2030.

The Research to Action project centers on bridging the divide between policy research and policy action to tackle issues of forced labour, child labour and human trafficking. The primary objectives of the project are to increase access to evidence, facilitate understanding of available research and gaps, enhance capacity to provide evidence and fill gaps and promote new interest and engagement in the subject area.
