Supporting development and innovation in Sierra Leone.

Sierra Leone has a troubled history of civil war, as well as humanitarian disasters such as the Ebola outbreak in 2014 and the mudslide in 2017. As a result, many of the population do not have access to appropriate healthcare, education or housing which causes disease and poverty.

UNICEF works to support those in Sierra Leone who are working to improve the health and prospects of the population. Their ‘Changemaker’ program recognises individuals who have created innovative technologies to tackle problems such as birth registration, and who offer support and education, for example to those who suffer with HIV/AIDS. Furthermore, in crisis situations such as the 2017 mudslide, UNICEF provides vital food and housing to those in need.

This portfolio features photographs taken in Sierra Leone, 2017, as part of a film project commissioned by UNICEF.
