In rural Togo, many children have to walk over 4km a day to access water.

Sadia is a 10-year-old girl from the village of Kpamberta, located in the Kara region of Togo. Until recently, Sadia was having to walk 4km everyday to collect water for her family, eventually leading to her dropping out of school.

In collaboration with Fuji TV, UNICEF has kickstarted an initiative to bring water to villages like Sadia’s, by drilling boreholes equipped with a manual solar pump. Having easy access to water has transformed Sadia’s life, she now attends school and hopes to become a seamstress.

This film was shot over the course of 2 days in Kpamberta village.
